View the project status

After an update, the status of a project typically changes. To review the updated status, you can use Fever Charts and an endpoint view such as My Endpoints or the Endpoints tab in the Project Details view.

Viewing status in an endpoint view

Endpoints represent the final tasks of a project and provide insight into the status of the project. You can view endpoint status by navigating to:

  • My Endpoints in the Workspace section of the navigation menu. This view provides a list of all endpoints to which you have access.

  • Any endpoint view created using the View Manager.

  • The Endpoints tab in the Project Details view. This tab shows all endpoints associated with a specific project.

Each endpoint has key data fields that help assess the project's progress and risk level:

  • Chain Done (%) – The percentage of the endpoint's longest chain that has been completed, calculated from Original Chain minus Chain Remaining.

  • Chain Remaining (days) – The number of days remaining in the project’s longest chain.

  • Buffer Used (%) – The percentage of the project buffer that has been consumed to date.

  • Buffer Left (days) – The remaining days in the project buffer that have not yet been consumed.

Each endpoint also has a status indicator (Green, Yellow, or Red):

  • Green – The project is on track.

  • Yellow – There is moderate risk of consuming all of your buffer, and intervention may be needed.

  • Red – The buffer is significantly consumed in relation to the amount of the project that has been completed, indicating high risk.

Accessing the Fever Chart view

The Fever Chart provide a graphical representation of project progress over time, comparing buffer consumption with the percentage of work completed. To open the Fever Chart view:

  1. In My Endpoints or the Endpoints tab, locate the endpoint you want to review.

  2. Click the View fever charts action from the endpoint’s menu or click on the status indicator.

In Fever Chart, you can:

  • Select a Scheduled Date to review past progress updates.

  • Toggle between the Traditional Fever Chart and Time Chart to analyze buffer trends.

  • Use the zoom controls to refine the view of status points.

  • View the variability cone and the landing zone to assess risk and expected completion scenarios.

Accessing the Impact Chain view

The Impact Chain view shows the longest chain of tasks feeding into the current task, taking into account resource contention. For an endpoint task, the Impact Chain is equivalent to the Critical Chain. This view allows you to explore both impact chains and shadow chains, which are chains of tasks within a certain number of days from becoming critical.

  • In My Endpoints or the Endpoints tab, locate the endpoint you want to review. Click the View Impact Chain action from the endpoint’s three-dot menu, or click the endpoint name to open Task Details and navigate to the Impact Chain tab.
