Create a new endpoint

Endpoints are tasks in a project network with no successors. They represent the endpoints of critical chains and are protected by a Project Buffer. Follow these steps to create a new endpoint in an existing project.

Step 1: Open the Endpoints tab

1. Click on the project name badge to open the Project Details view.

2. Navigate to the Endpoints tab.

You must have Update Project permissions to create a new endpoint.

Step 2: Create the endpoint

1. Click the + create new endpoint link in the upper left.

2. Enter a clear and descriptive name for the endpoint.

Newly created endpoints are automatically set to Rebuffer on Next Update, ensuring that a new Project Buffer is created during the next schedule update.

Next steps

After creating the endpoint:

• Link tasks to the endpoint: Add predecessor links from any task view or create tasks and links using the Network Diagram view.

• Update the project schedule: Run an Update Schedule or a Reschedule on the project to create buffer for the new endpoint.
