Task fields

This page describes the available fields related to tasks in Fusion Online. Many of these fields can be displayed as columns in task views and can also be found in the Task Details view. Additionally, we indicate which fields are available for sorting.

% Complete

  • Description: The percentage of the original task duration that has been completed; in other words, 100 x (original duration - remaining duration) / original duration.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Actual Finish

  • Description: The date and time the task was marked as completed in Fusion Online. This field can be updated in the Task Details view when the task state is Completed.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Actual Start

  • Description: The date and time the task was marked as started in Fusion Online. This field can be updated in the Task Details view when the task state is Started. If you transition a Not Started task to Completed, the Actual Start will be automatically calculated by subtracting the duration from the current date and time.

ASAP Finish

  • Description: The earliest possible task finish time calculated by the scheduler during the most recent Schedule Update.

  • Available in: Task views.

ASAP Start

  • Description: The earliest possible task start time calculated by the scheduler during the most recent Schedule Update.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Assignee (full name)

  • Description: The individual user assigned to a task. Displays the user’s profile photo (or initials) and their name. The column cell is clickable to reassign tasks directly from the task list.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Assignee (icon only)

  • Description: A compact version of the Assignee field that only displays the user’s profile photo (or initials) without the name. Hover to see the full name in a tooltip.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Assignment Delay

  • Description: The difference between the task’s Projected Finish (as calculated by the Project Scheduler) and the Assignee’s expected finish time (as calculated by the Assignment Scheduler).

  • Available in: Task views.

Assignment Finish

  • Description: The finish date and time for the task as calculated by the Assignment Scheduler.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Assignment Impact

  • Description: The amount of time the task’s Assignment Finish exceeds the time when the task would be considered Critical.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Assignment Schedule Order

  • Description: The order in which the task was scheduled by the Assignment Scheduler, factoring in metrics like manual priorities, task criticality, and expected completion dates of predecessor tasks.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Assignment Start

  • Description: The start date and time for the task as calculated by the Assignment Scheduler.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Backlog Task

  • Description: A Backlog Task is a project task created in Fusion Online that is not associated with any endpoint. These tasks appear in project task views but are not scheduled. An icon is displayed in the Task State column in task views and in the title section of the Task Details page, indicating that the task is a backlog task.

  • Available in: Task views (icon in Task State column), Task Details (icon in title).

  • Filterable: Yes.

Baseline Finish

  • Description: The originally scheduled finish time for the task. This value is calculated when the task is initially scheduled or rescheduled.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Baseline Start

  • Description: The originally scheduled start time for the task. This value is calculated when the task is initially scheduled or rescheduled.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Blocked Reason

  • Description: The reason a task is blocked. The reason is required when marking a task as blocked and is visible only when the task is in the Blocked state.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

Checklists

  • Description: Checklists are a detailed breakdown of a task into subtasks (checklist tasks). Checklists provide a way to add detail to a task without complicating the overall schedule and critical chain. Two icons related to checklists are displayed to the left of the task name in the Task Name column:

    • An icon indicating that a task has a checklist (parent task).

    • An icon indicating that the task itself is a checklist task.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Constraint

  • Description: Any constraints associated with the task, such as Must Start On, Must Finish On, Start No Earlier Than, etc. The Project Scheduler and the Assignment Scheduler factor in constraints when scheduling tasks. A warning icon will display next to the Constraint if it cannot be honored by either the Project Scheduler or the Assignment Scheduler. Hover your mouse pointer over the warning icon to view a description of the warning.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Criticality

  • Description: Indicates if the task is critical or how many days away it is from being critical. For non-project tasks, this field shows if the task is Urgent or how many days it is from being urgent. Hover your mouse over the field to see a tooltip with the name of the associated endpoint and other information. For project tasks, this field is calculated by the scheduler during the most recent Schedule Update.

Criticality Ratio

  • Description: A measure of task criticality. A number at or below zero indicates that the task is critical. Calculated during the most recent Schedule Update.

  • Available in: Task views.

Custom Fields

  • Description: Fields configured by the system administrator. Custom fields can be added as columns in task views and edited in Task Details.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Description

  • Description: The detailed description of the task, including formatted text, images, and attachments.

  • Available in: Task Details (editable).

Duration

  • Description: The range of time remaining for the task, from an optimistic (focus) duration to a low-risk (pessimistic) duration. This can be displayed as a range or a single duration depending on system settings.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Eligible Date

  • Description: The date on which the task is expected to be eligible to be worked on.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Endpoint

  • Description: The most significant endpoint for the task, calculated during the most recent Schedule Update and associated with the Most Significant Buffer Fed.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Expanded Finish

  • Description: A conservative finish date and time for the task, taking into account low-risk durations and integration risk. Calculated during the most recent Schedule Update.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Expanded Start

  • Description: A conservative start date and time for the task, taking into account low-risk durations and integration risk. Calculated during the most recent Schedule Update.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Jira Task Key

  • Description: This field is used to link a Fusion task to a Jira issue. You can click on the key in any task view to open the issue directly in Jira.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Last Update

  • Description: The date of the last update for this task. This field will indicate when the task’s duration or constraint has been updated since the most recent Schedule Update.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Milestone

  • Description: A milestone is a task with zero duration, where "Milestone" is displayed in the Duration field. Endpoints are often configured as milestone tasks if there is no work to be done but they serve as the end of a sequence of predecessor tasks. The task state for milestone tasks is automatically calculated by the Project Scheduler. If all of the milestone's predecessors are completed, the milestone task will also be marked as completed.

No Load

  • Description: This field determines whether or not a task will be given load by the Assignment Scheduler. The "No Load" option is only available for tasks assigned to a user.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

Non-Eligible Indicator

  • Description: This optional icon is displayed in the Task State column in a task view and in the title section of the Task Details page before the task name. It indicates why a task is not eligible. Hover over the icon to find out why the task is not eligible. The task could have incomplete predecessors or a task constraint.

  • Available in: Task views (icon in Task State column), Task Details (icon in title).

Organization

  • Description: The organization to which the task belongs. For project tasks, the organization is selected when the project is created.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable for non-project tasks).

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Parent Task

  • Description: Displays the name of the checklist task’s parent task and includes a link to navigate to the parent Task Details.

  • Available in: Task Details (for checklist tasks).

Predecessors

  • Description: The list of predecessor tasks that are linked to the given task. Displays task keys in task views, with a more detailed list available on hover.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Program

  • Description: If the task's project is a subproject in a program, the program’s name is displayed. Clicking on it opens the Project Details for the program.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Project (abbreviation)

  • Description: Displays the project abbreviation and color badge. Clicking on the badge opens the Project Details. Use this column instead of Project (full name) if you want to save space in your table.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Project (full name)

  • Description: Displays the full name of the project. Clicking on the project name opens the Project Details.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Projected Finish

  • Description: The projected (anticipated) finish time for the task, calculated during the most recent Schedule Update.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Projected Start

  • Description: The projected (anticipated) start time for the task, calculated during the most recent Schedule Update.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Resource Dependencies

  • Description: Displays the names of resources restricting the task either to the past or the future.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Resources Assigned

  • Description: Displays the list of resources assigned to the given task. This field is editable in Task Details.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Scheduling Priority

  • Description: The optional per-task priority value used for resource leveling. A lower number indicates higher priority when resources are assigned during the scheduling process.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

Status Comment

  • Description: A comment entered when the task’s status is updated, providing additional context about the current task state.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

Subproject

  • Description: If the given task is referencing a subproject, this field displays the name of the subproject. Subproject references can be created with Fusion Desktop..

  • Available in: Task Details.

Subtask

  • Description: If the given task is referencing a task in a subproject, this field displays the name of the task. Subproject references can be created with Fusion Desktop.

  • Available in: Task Details (read-only).

Successors

  • Description: Displays a list of successor tasks linked to the current task. Hover to view a detailed list with links.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Summary Task

  • Description: Displays the name of the summary task. Clicking on the name opens the Task Details of the summary task. Summary tasks can be created with Microsoft Project.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Task Groups

  • Description: Displays the task groups to which the task belongs. Click on the field in Task Details to open a selection list to assign task groups.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes.

Task Key

  • Description: A unique identifier for the task, created using the project abbreviation and the task’s unique ID (UID). Clicking the key opens the Task Details. If the given task is a checklist task, the key is the parent task’s key followed by the checklist item number.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Task Managers

  • Description: Displays the task managers assigned to the task. Click on the field in Task Details to open a selection list to assign managers.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes

Task Name

  • Description: The name of the task.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details (editable).

  • Sortable: Yes.

Task State

  • Description: The current state of the task, such as Not Started, Started, or Completed. Optional states include Blocked and Focus:

    • A Blocked task can be either Not Started or Started, but it cannot be Completed.

    • A Focus task must also be Started; it cannot be Not Started or Completed.

    Task State relationship with Actual Start and Finish:

    • If the task is Not Started, the Actual Start and Actual Finish fields will be empty.

    • If the task is Started, the Actual Start date will be set, and the Actual Finish will be empty.

    • If the task is Completed, both the Actual Start and Actual Finish fields will be set.

    Task State relationship with Duration:

    • If the task is Completed, the Duration will be zero, since there is no remaining duration left once the task is finished.

Task UID

  • Description: The unique identifier (UID) of the task, used along with the project abbreviation to create the Task Key. If you are also using Fusion Desktop, this maps to the task Unique ID in Microsoft Project.

Updated By

  • Description: Displays the name of the user who last updated the task.

  • Available in: Task views, Task Details.

  • Sortable: Yes.

  • Filterable: Yes

Urgent Date

  • Description: The date when the task becomes urgent. This field is available only for non-project tasks.

  • Available in: Task Details (editable).

View Order Number

  • Description: The ID for the task in Microsoft Project, which may change as tasks are added or rescheduled. This field is only set for projects that have been uploaded from Microsoft Project using Fusion Desktop.

  • Available in: Task views.

  • Sortable: Yes.

Customizing and saving your view
