Manage an Agile team

In an agile environment, it's essential to keep team members focused, avoid overload, and respond quickly to changing priorities. Fusion Online helps you do this by giving you visibility into team workloads and enabling fast, flexible task assignment.

This guide assumes that your agile team is modeled as a resource in your project, and individual team members are users in Fusion Online.

Start with the My Team view

  1. Go to Workspace > My Team in the sidebar.

  2. This view shows a list of your team members and their highest-priority tasks, based on their current assignments.

Configure the View

  • Assignment Load Horizon – Choose a time window to view task load (e.g., next 1–2 weeks).

  • User Group – Filter the list to show only your team members (make sure your team is in a defined User Group).

  • If some tasks appear blurred, you may not have permission to view that user’s assignments. Ask a User Administrator to grant you User Manager permissions for those users.

Create a task view in a new browser tab

To assign and manage team tasks more easily:

  1. In the sidebar, right-click All Tasks and select Open Link in New Tab.

  2. (Optional) Use View Manager to create a saved view tailored to team task assignment.

  3. Turn off the Gantt Chart to maximize screen space.

  4. Clear all existing filters and add:

    • Resource = [Your Team]

    • Task State = Not Started or Started

    • Is Backlog Task = No

    • (Optional) Assignee = Unassigned, or sort by Assignee to focus on unassigned work

    • (Optional) Filter by Endpoint to focus on near-term releases

This setup gives you a clean view of all unassigned or available work for your team.

Assign or reassign tasks

You can assign tasks directly from the task list:

  • Click the Assignee badge on an individual task to assign it to a team member

  • Select multiple tasks using the checkboxes, then click Assign in the bulk actions toolbar

  • For more granular assignment, consider using a Checklist—you can assign individual checklist items to different users

Avoid overloading your team

Agile teams perform best when they're not juggling too many tasks. Fusion Online gives you multiple ways to monitor and manage load:

From the My Team View:

  • Assignment Load column – Shows each person’s load as a percentage for the selected time horizon

  • Assignment Impact column (in the User Tasks view) – Shows how much a task assignment is projected to delay project completion

Aim to minimize Assignment Impact by assigning tasks to users who can begin sooner without delaying delivery.

Practical Strategies:

  • Assign one or two tasks at a time and adjust frequently (especially if you're doing daily standups)

  • Use refresh in the My Team view to update the load display after making assignments

  • Click on a user’s name to open their User Tasks window for a detailed view of what they’re currently working on
