Manage a team's assignments

Fusion Online team views make it easy to monitor and manage your team’s workload across projects. You can quickly see who is assigned to what, how much work each person has in a given time horizon, and whether reassignments are needed to keep projects on track.

Use a team view to see your team’s load

Start by opening a team-based view such as My Team. This view shows:

  • A list of users (based on your selected User Group)

  • Each user’s highest-priority task

  • A summary of how loaded they are within the selected time horizon

  • A Gantt chart breakdown of assignments (if enabled)

Use the Assignment Load Horizon setting to choose a time window—e.g., the next 2 weeks, or 1 month. This filters each user’s assignment load based on tasks with Assignment Start dates within the selected range.

Understanding assignment load and impact

Each user row provides details on their current workload and availability, based on data from the Assignment Scheduler. This includes:

  • Assignment Load – A percentage indicating how loaded the user is during the selected time horizon, based on their scheduled assignments

  • Assignment Start – When each task is expected to begin for the assignee

  • Assignment Impact – How much assigning the task to that user is expected to delay it beyond the critical point

A lower Assignment Impact is typically better—it means the user is available to work on the task without delaying the schedule. You can use this to validate that high-priority tasks are being assigned to users who can deliver them on time.

Marking a task as No Load in the Task Details view ensures it does not contribute to the user’s workload or influence the scheduling of their other tasks.

Reassign tasks as needed

While the team view shows users, not tasks, you can reassign work by clicking into a specific team member's assignments:

  1. In the team view, click on a user’s name to open their User Tasks view in the sidebar.

  2. From there, you’ll see all of the tasks currently assigned to that user.

  3. Use filters or sorting to focus on specific tasks.

  4. To reassign:

    • Click the Assignee badge in the task list to change the assignee for a single task

    • Or, select multiple tasks using checkboxes and choose Assignee from the bulk update toolbar

This allows you to reassign tasks to other team members as needed—whether to reduce overload, adjust priorities, or respond to schedule risk.

How team views differ from project views

Fusion uses two scheduling engines:

  • The Project Scheduler determines project timelines but does not account for user overload

  • The Assignment Scheduler calculates task-level start dates and load based on individual user assignments across all projects and non-project tasks

This means team views provide an important layer of visibility for managers. You can spot when:

  • A user is overloaded and likely to delay one or more projects

  • A high-priority task is assigned to a user who is too busy

  • Task priorities across projects may be misaligned

Why use the team view?

The team view helps you:

  • See what your team is working on across projects

  • Understand how loaded individuals are within a time horizon

  • Balance and reassign work as needed

  • Confirm that the right people are working on the right tasks at the right time

It’s your go-to workspace for making real-time decisions that keep projects moving and team members aligned.
