System Calendars

The System Calendars page is found under Setup in the navigation menu and is accessible to System Administrators. System Calendars provide the default calendars for projects and serve as the base calendars for users in Fusion Online.

System Calendars

Overview

System calendars play a crucial role in ensuring consistent scheduling across projects and users:

  • Projects: When you create a new project, the selected system calendar is copied into the project as the project’s default calendar. You can also import a system calendar into existing projects to update their schedules and maintain consistency across your organization.

  • User Calendars: System Calendars are used as the base calendars for individual users. By default, each user is assigned the system's default calendar, but administrators can select a different calendar for individual users if needed. User calendars determine the availability of users and are used by the Assignment Scheduler to plan tasks based on user availability.

Creating and managing system calendars

Click on the + create new calendar link at the top of the page to create a new system calendar. When creating a new calendar, you can specify working hours and add exceptions, which define special non-working days or modified working hours.

Use the action menu in the Name column for each row to:

  • Copy: Create a duplicate of the selected calendar.

  • Delete: Permanently remove the calendar. Note: The default calendar cannot be deleted. You must first assign a different calendar as the default.

  • Set as Default: Make this calendar the default for the system. The default system calendar is automatically assigned to new projects and users unless another calendar is selected.

Columns

  • Working Hours: Displays a summary of the standard work week for each calendar, indicating the typical working hours for each day.

  • No. of Exceptions: Shows the count of exceptions (e.g., holidays or special non-working days) defined for the calendar.

Click on the calendar name in the list to open the Calendar Details view, where you can edit the calendar’s working hours and exceptions. For more information, refer to the Calendar Details documentation.
